Welcome to the

Our heading picture this time
is of a Mercury
Models Midge. This model
is a control line speed model from the 1960s and is only 12” wingspan, weights
around 6 oz and is powered by a 1.5cc or .09 cu in engine turning 7x9
prop. The model flys on 35 foot lines
and should be able to get up to 80mph speed.
The model sits on a wire dolly which remains on the ground when the
plane leaves it after reaching flying speed.
Our chairman has a brand new unopened kit of same !!
Finally, the weather is starting
to improve. It is just coming up to
Easter weekend and we are beginning to experience some nice long evenings and
hopefully a reduction in the amount of H2O falling out of the sky. The club members are rallying around getting
planes, equipment and enthusiasm all fired up looking forward to a good few
months of flying ahead. As you will see
from the Latest News section, we have performed some serious improvement work
on our flying strip. We have a lot of
people to thank, none more so than Alex whose enthusiasm filtered out into
everyone around.. ie.. he badgered us all to get raking and levelling..
!!! Seriously tho, his efforts combined
with all those who gave their time and effort have produced results that in
time will give us a lush pasture like sward of nicely cropped grass.
We are going to run a
competition within the club for a club logo which will identify us with the
county and also impart the basics of what our hobby is… Watch this space..!
Plans are advancing in getting
some members A and B certified hopefully during the April timeframe.
