Well here we are at the start of a new year and to say the weather has started

badly would be an understatement..!! Having said that a good number turned

out last Sunday 3^rd Jan having had to make very very careful journeys on the bad

road conditions. A crisp fresh day it was with those who admitted so, wearing their

Long Johns, fingerless gloves and flasks of tea !..

A notable number of first flights took place including Phil Reilly’s new Shark, Ollie’s

new purchase of a Citabria, John Gaffney’s Edge 540, Manuel’s Super Air low winger,

Dave Dunne’s Blade.. all came through with flying colours !! Well done everyone..!

As I write these words, the country is in the grip of a big freeze, the likes of which

has not been seen in over 40 years. The above scene shows some nice DH Beavers

on skis and reminds me again that I should make a good set of skis for the Pilatus

Porter and enjoy the delights of flying off snow.. assuming I can get to the flying

field !! But I say this every year and never do it.. maybe the time to make the skis

is during the summer.. !
