Welcome to the home page of
the
Royal County Aeromodeller’s web
site.

A new heading picture graces our Home page. It is a pic of Captain Damian Roche (or maybe
Corporal Damian Roche!! ) giving the all clear
to the ground staff of the CASA Maritime Patrol
Aircraft as used by the Irish Air Corps. Damian and Bill were lucky to be invited to a
special
Commemorative event for the pilots and ground
staff who worked with the De Havilland
Vampire jet as used by the Air Corps during the
50s and 60s. This included a visit and
air show
by a Vampire specially invited over for the
occasion. I will have more pics and
videos from
the day later during the week.
This month we update the Bits & Pieces
section with some pictures taken recently at
Weston Airport.
Bill went along and attended the Scale Association’s AGM and joined
the Association.
After the talking there was a tour of the airport under the guidance
of Steve Quigley. We were able to view up close and personal
such full size aeroplanes
as the DC3 Dakota, Blackburn Buccaneer fighter
bomber of the 60’s period of the
Royal Navy.
We then visited the hangers and were able to view
a range of full size aircraft. I have
put up a lot of pictures with captions in this
section. For €25 annual membership,
joining the Association was good value but the
tour thrown in was the icing on the cake !!
Our club field has seen a fair bit of activity
recently with flying in earnest most Sunday
mornings apart from those with really bad
weather. We have had our fair share of
that
also.
With little or no growth on the strips, we have not even cut grass yet
at this point
in time.
As we head into May, we will start to see the
gradual influx of our turfing
neighbours as they start the harvesting of the
turf. This will bring a heightened need
to be even more vigilant on the safety side of
things. Please remember the following:
NO INSURANCE ? ABSOLUTELY
NO FLYING.
NO ‘A’ CERTIFICATE
? ABSOLUTELY
NO FLYING WITHOUT AN ‘A’ CERT NEARBY
